Feeling Rusty

[Jolie school's chorus concert]

I have been very busy both at work and home since last Christmas. During this period of time, whenever I touched the camera, it's either for Jolie's activities or school's events. All these occasions are indoors.

I used to be very afraid of indoor events. This came from film era. Shooting indoors at that time required me to find the correct films and precisely use the flash. My indoor photos were always bad when I just started to learn photography. At one point, I decided to stop shooting indoors, only to take outdoor photos. But now most of my shooting are for indoor events so I gradually developed my way of handling them. I am not saying now I can master all these indoor events, I just became more comfortable.

This weekend, we went to Holmdel park. Nowadays, I seldom go out without having my camera with me. I took some photos and when I checked them at home, most of them are bad. I think part of my gut feeling for many situations has left me. It used to be very natural for me to take the pictures under sun light but not this time. Some of the compensations I did surprised me. When examining the photos, I realized I overlooked some of the factors inside the frame.

The weather is getting better and better and the summer is coming, I think I have to go out more and shake off the rust.
